Spider Vein Doctors in NJ

Spider veins are small but irritating and can make you want to cover up even on a warm summer’s day. If you are looking for an established clinic with safe and trusted procedures to remove spider veins, our vascular and vein specialists at Advanced Vascular Associates will be pleased to help you!

What causes spider veins on legs?

Spider veins are caused by a medical condition called venous insufficiency. With this condition, the one-way valves inside your veins that allow blood to flow to the heart and keep it from flowing backwards become weakened or damaged. As a result, blood begins to pool in the veins, causing a bulge to appear at the point where the vein branches out.

How do I get rid of spider veins on my legs?

There are two tried and proven ways to remove spider veins from your legs. These are:

  • Sclerotherapy: With sclerotherapy, doctors inject a saline solution into the affected veins which hardens and closes the veins, so that the blood can flow through healthier veins. Depending on the case, you might require several injections, but these injections are minimally invasive. Within a few weeks of treatment, you should see your spider veins begin to fade.
  • Laser Treatment: Laser treatment sends direct pulses of laser light into the affected veins, so that they gradually fade and disappear.

We are proud to offer both treatments for spider veins at Advanced Vascular Associates. It might also be helpful to know that if your spider veins are caused by pregnancy or certain medications, they may disappear on their own after several months.

Can Spider Veins Return After Treatment?

While sclerotherapy and laser treatment have a very good success rate for treating spider veins, over a number of years spider veins can return. This is because there is no cure for weakening vein valves. If you have recurring spider veins, it is best to have ongoing treatment to take care of them.

Is Sclerotherapy Expensive?

The price of sclerotherapy ranges depending if you are getting both legs done. This price may fluctuate depending on the number of veins you are getting treated as well, how many treatment sessions you require, and how severe your venous insufficiency is. If cost is an issue, we have financing options through CareCredit at Advanced Vascular Associates.
We also offer discounts and promotions on our Specials page.

Are Spider Vein Treatments Covered By Insurance?

If your spider vein treatment is for medical reasons, there is a good chance that it will be covered by insurance. That said, it is best to contact your insurance provider directly to find out if they will cover your spider vein treatment. At Advanced Vascular Associates, we accept most major insurance providers. For a list of insurance providers that we accept, please visit our Insurance page. If you do not see your specific insurance provider on that page, please call us to discuss your options.
